The series in the collection are: Architectural Research, 1932-1983; College of Architecture and Urban Planning, 1967-1985; Correspondence, 1962-1972; Development Index, 1947-1984; and Published Materials, 1930-1982. The Architectural Research series concerns work done at the University of Michigan Architectural Research Laboratory, his work with K. Lönberg-Holm, and his interest in the effect of architecture on the environment. The Development Index series concerns inception and development of Index which was intended as device for organizing and facilitating the flow of information needed in furthering humankind's development with special reference to buildings and communities. The Published Materials series concerns in part articles on Larson's Unistrut prefabricated construction system.

Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. With support from the Michigan Commission on Art in Public Places, 1,076 items were inventoried during 1988-1990.
